WCFA is proud to support The Flower Shuttle Program
An exciting volunteer program is blossoming in our community!
The concept of The Flower Shuttle is similar to The Food Shuttle, except it involves picking up flowers following events and rearranging them into smaller vases for delivery to Hospice, Alliance of AIDS Services-Carolina, Wake Med, Raleigh Dialysis, Meals On Wheels, Shepard’s Table Soup Kitchen and Urban Ministries.
The beauty of this program is that it uses flowers from community events, galas, weddings and funerals that would normally be thrown away to brighten the lives of people living with sickness, terminal illness, poverty and disability.
Volunteers gather when there is a flower donation and quickly rearrange and deliver to those in need. Many volunteers are needed to coordinate flower event connections, pick up flowers, rearrange and deliver bouquets.
The response to this program has been heartwarming and contagious. The program is open to the entire community and is being sponsored by Raleigh Moravian Church as an outreach service project.
The Flower Shuttle is in need of flowers, volunteers and donations for supplies. If you would like to be involved or make a donation, please contact Kathy Reece at 834-7134 or kandwreece@aol.com |
